Oklahoma Window Tint Laws – “What are the Tint Laws in Oklahoma?”

When considering window tint for your car, it is important to know what the laws are for auto tint in Oklahoma.

The state of Oklahoma enacted window tinting laws in 2005. These laws provide the legal shade you can have on your windshield, front windows as well as rear windows.

The first thing to know is what VLT means. VLT or Visible Light Transmission is the percent of visible light that gets through your car windows. The lower the VLT%, the darker the tint. For example, a 5% tint is very dark and allows very little VLT inside the car.

Legal Tint for Sedans or Passenger Cars in Oklahoma

• Windshield – Non Reflective tint allowed above the AS-1 line or top 5 inches. This is called a visor strip
• Front Side windows – 25% VLT
• Backside Windows – 25% VLT
• Rear Windows – 25% VLT

Legal Tint for Multi-Purpose Vehicles (Trucks, SUVS, etc.)

• Windshield – Non Reflective tint allowed above the AS-1 line or top 5 inches. This is called a visor strip
• Front Side windows – 25% VLT
• Backside Windows – No limitations
• Rear Windows – No limitations
